The Lonely Lion

«The Norwegian word for Lion is Løve.
This is a short speech about Love, loneliness and lions.

I’m a lion, at least that’s what I look like. But I don’t know cause I’m not like other lions. Lions hunt together in prides on the great savannah. Lions are majestic and proud. They protect their family and share what they have with the rest of the lions. I’m just a lonely lion. Lost in the cold concrete jungle. With nothing to share, and no one to share with.

There’s an old African saying that lions are immortal. But if you chase the lion away from its pride, it will grow weaker and weaker, until it eventually dies of solitude.

Oslo is called the city of tigers. Now I can see why. Cause everyone here is so mean and selfish. The tigerses use their claws, they want more and more and more and more. They`re so grrrreeedy. I try to fit in, but it doesn’t feel right, cause we lions are not like that. We have paws, not claws. I want to be loved, I want friendship, family, I want a life. But why would they care about a lonely lion, this is the city of tigers right? Everywhere I go, they stare at me. You don’t belong here they say and perhaps they right.

I have a dream that one day, I will meet with another lion and we`ll run together on the savannah. The grass looks so much greener in Africa you know.

So I have to get up and start looking. Nothing will happen by it self, I have to do something. I must find love somewhere in this city. I’m a proud lion and I can’t give up even if love is hiding from me. I will look under ground, where is the love? And I will look over ground, where is the love? Between all this humans, sir can you help me, have you seen it? Yes!

And it becomes so clear, love is in me. I have to make people happy, and I’m not alone, there are others just like me. Love is all there is».
